Jacob’s Church is in New Tripoli, PA, a rural area in Northeast PA. with weekly church attendance of 125-150. We are excited for what God is doing in our church and we are looking for a special person to join us in our vision to bring the Good News to this area. We are excited to see the Kingdom grow as we look towards the future.  


The candidate filling this role will be an important part of the Jacob’s Church team, and an integral part of Jacob’s Church mission to reach our community with the love of Jesus. She or he will work collaboratively with church leadership to provide programming and relational ministry to our teens as well as providing support to expand our current children’s ministries program. We strive to build a ministry that is built on a relational ministry model, as we believe that discipleship to Jesus thrives in relationship and community.


Responsibilities

Church-wide Responsibilities:

  • Work with other Jacob’s Church staff to create programs, events, retreats, and serving opportunities for all the youth that would live out the vision for Jacob’s Church.
  • Craft a coordinated effort to minister to and equip parents through ongoing conversations and one-to-one meetings. 
  • Grow under the mentorship of elders and senior pastor to avail oneself to preaching opportunities.

Student Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Play a key leadership role in bringing to fruition Jacob’s Church’s vision for a growing, vibrant student ministry which equips students and families for a lifetime of following Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. 
  • Work with the Jacob’s Youth to build a thriving culture and environment where teenagers are warmly welcomed and accepted while creating an environment for the purpose of leading teens to Christ and grow in their faith. 
  • Lead weekly youth programming including any set-up and tear-down and other responsibilities as needed.
  • Prepare talks and lessons to teach students on Sunday mornings and at other Jacob’s Youth events. 
  • Identify, recruit, equip and nurture volunteer leaders; coordinate and train additional volunteers to meet program needs.
  • Participate in the planning and leadership of Vacation Bible School (our week-long summer program), youth retreats and all other youth events and gatherings. 
  • Use appropriate adolescent /child development knowledge to best meet the needs of Jacob’s youth and their families regarding program development, structure, activities, and teaching strategies.
  • Pay attention to and appropriately engage with the national and international dialogue/conversation around student ministry best practices.
  • Engage and connect with  local community events demonstrating a servant’s heart to love one another as Christ loves the Church.


Requirements:

Jacob’s Youth Leader will:

  • Exemplify a life of apprenticeship to Jesus with a strong desire to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. 
  • Is comfortable and familiar with expressive worship styles. 
  • Inspire the church community toward living in “The Way of Jesus” in their real lives; both through deep community/congregation engagement and dynamic and biblical teaching/preaching.
  • Fully embrace the statement of mission, vision, values, pillars, and beliefs of Jacob’s Church. 
  • Remain committed to biblical orthodoxy and exegesis.
  • Lead with humility, continually seeking the team/organization “win” above personal recognition. 
  • Invest relationally in fellow Jacob’s Church staff.
  • Exercise social responsibility, strategic thinking, and flexibility.
  • Have a heart for “revival” in the New Tripoli/Lynn Township community that is committed to ministry which is inspired, empowered, and led by the Holy Spirit.


Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred degree in Youth Ministry or Biblical Studies.
  • Has prior experience working in youth ministry: demonstrates effective communicating skills with teenagers as well as children, able to facilitate thoughtful and engaging discussions with students and is a strong and gifted communicator to families. 
  • Strong teamwork skills: ability to work cooperatively and jointly with various staff ministries, volunteers, and other organizations.
  • Has the ability to think theologically about cultural issues and can demonstrate experience with exegesis and hermeneutics in a relevant way to children and teens.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage time, prioritize workload to meet deadlines, detail-oriented and administratively gifted.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking the initiative.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office/ Google Apps, and other tech skills.

The candidate filling this role will be an important part of the Jacob’s Church team, and an integral part of our worship and praise. She or he will work collaboratively with church leadership to support Sunday morning service, special occasions, and effective church administration.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, schedule, and develop technology volunteer teams;
  • Assemble, communicate, and confirm technology needs for worship services, ministry gatherings, and other church events in the sanctuary and activity center;
  • Program and operate Audio Visual (AV) and information technology (IT) systems during services and events; 
  • Oversee stage and large equipment set-up on campus, as required;
  • Lead technology teams during services and events;
  • Oversee the vision, assessment, procurement, installation, and maintenance of Audio Visual /Master of Ceremonies equipment, broadband facilities, computers, and information technology equipment and applications;
  • Ensure that all components and equipment are in proper working order and troubleshoot as needed;
  • Ensure that the technical needs for events scheduled are in place and fully operational;
  • Champion and curate Media Creation (Video Production/Livestream/Podcast/etc.);
  • Pursue and create audio and video content for ministries and staff for use online, in small groups, and worship services;
  • Assess, procure, and operate broadband connections, local area networks, Wi-Fi access and data telecommunications services churchwide; and
  • Ensure adequate information security of Jacob’s hardware, software, applications, and data.


Qualifications

Experience working in the AV, IT or videography field. Works well in a team environment. Experience with live production environments and standard equipment. Videography experience, including video editing software competency. Strong organizational and communication skills. High school diploma or higher and the ability to lift 50 lbs of equipment and move around as required. Experience with NDI systems is a plus.

Employment Status:

Part-Time Sunday mornings but with flexibility and other events as required (rehearsals/funerals/etc.)
